Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ünal Üsel stated that tourism is the locomotive sector of the country’s economy and stated that the number of tourists coming from Europe with the pressures of the Greek Cypriot Administration (GCR).

ÜSTEL emphasized that the TRNC is working to carry tourism, which is the locomotive sector, to a better point.
Referring to the importance of tourism, Üstel said that the Greek Cypriots were putting pressure on the TRNC to prevent tourists from coming from Europe.
Prime Minister Ünal Üsel stated that transportation is very important in tourism and said:
“Since the embargo is applied to us, our tourists from third countries always use the airport of GKRY. The Greek Cypriot side is putting great pressure on those coming from third countries day by day. There are great pressures on both tour operators and tourists. ‘Do not holiday in the north, take a holiday in the south’ is called. If a holiday is made in the south, 50 euros per person is given incentives. They put pressure on tour operators with great incentives. In the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, a major decrease in the number of tourists from both Germany, France and the UK. Reminding that it descends about a thousand charter planes for winter tourism every year from Germany to the TRNC.
Üsel said, “As a result of the pressure of the Greek side, tour operators serve their purpose to guarantee themselves. Thus, tourists are provided to go south.
