SunExpress Increases Its Contribution to Türkiye Tourism: 28 New Routes

SunExpress is reaching the largest flight network in its history by adding 28 new routes in the 2024 summer season. SunExpress increases its contribution to Türkiye’s tourism

SunExpress, a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, generated revenue of 1.8 billion Euros in 2023, an increase of 21% compared to the previous year. The airline managed to keep its occupancy rate at a high level of 85%.

SunExpress is reaching the largest flight network in its history by adding 28 new routes in the 2024 summer season.

SunExpress CEO Max Kownatzki , “Turkey continues to be one of the first countries on the minds of travel lovers this year. The high demand we see in 2023 is also reflected in this year’s reservation figures. Turkey makes a difference as an ideal travel destination with its wide range of activities, different experience opportunities and price-performance ratio. As SunExpress, we have further expanded our direct flights to Turkey. “As the Turkish tourism market prepares to grow, we are doing our part as Turkey’s tourism ambassador,” he said.

THE LARGE FLIGHT NETWORK BETWEEN EUROPE AND TURKEY

SunExpress, which added 28 new routes to its flight network within the scope of its 2024 summer program, is also increasing its seat capacity by 19% this summer.

In total, the airline offers scheduled flights to more than 200 destinations in 35 countries.

Adding 18 new routes to its flight network on the Turkish Riviera, SunExpress flies to a total of 67 destinations from Antalya, Izmir, Dalaman and Bodrum-Milas airports.

10 NEW INTERNATIONAL ROUTES TO THE ANATOLIAN – EUROPE FLIGHT NETWORK

In addition, adding 10 new international routes to its Anatolia-Europe flight network, SunExpress offers direct flights from 15 cities in Anatolia to 18 destinations in Europe and 3 destinations in the Middle East. MAX KOWNATZKI: WE CONTINUE TO CONTRIBUTE TO TURKEY’S REACH OF 60 MILLION TOURIST TARGET

SunExpress, which broke the record with 12.6 million passengers in 2023, aims to carry 15 million passengers this year.

Stating that they are determined to make Turkey a destination visited throughout the year, Kownatzki , “We continue to contribute to Turkey reaching its target of 60 million tourists. “Together with the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency, we continue our efforts to promote Turkish tourism abroad and highlight Turkey as a versatile travel route that combines adventure, sports and relaxation, as well as history and culture,” he said.

1 IN 2 VISITORS FROM GERMANY TO TURKEY FLYED WITH SUNEXPRESS

SunExpress carried more than 50% of visitors traveling from Germany to Turkey in 2023. Turkey hosted 6.2 million visitors from Germany last year. This figure made Germany the second largest market for Turkish tourism.

IT WILL OFFER NEW EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

In line with its growth strategy, SunExpress plans to employ approximately 1300 people in cockpit, cabin, line maintenance, ground services and general manager positions by the end of 2025.

FLEET WILL DOUBLE IN TEN YEARS

Last year, SunExpress placed the largest aircraft order in the company’s history. The airline, which currently operates with 77 Boeing 737 aircraft, will increase the number of aircraft in its fleet to 166 by 2035. SunExpress Contribution to Türkiye Tourism

The new orders represent SunExpress’s determination to meet the growing demand for Turkey and support tourism. Kownatzki , “We have once again proven that we are an important stakeholder for tourism with our flights between Turkey and Europe. “The growth we plan is an indication of our commitment to Turkish tourism,” he said.
