Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that the target in tourism is to rank 3rd in the world; He made statements about the efforts carried out to expand tourism to 12 months and 81 provinces.
Underlining that, in addition to the ministry’s work, district and metropolitan municipalities should also be involved in the process by preparing tourism master plans, Minister Ersoy said, “District and metropolitan municipalities are very important here. They need to create tourism master plans. “There is no tourism city without a tourism master plan,” he said.
According to the information received, Tourism Master Plan studies for provinces and regions continue in line with the 2028 tourism targets. In this regard, while the master plan work has been completed for the provinces of Samsun and Van, the plan preparation works for the Cappadocia region have reached the final stage.
Work has also been initiated to prepare a Tourism Master Plan for Kahramanmaraş.
WE NEED TO IMMUNE THE SECTOR
Minister Ersoy, within the scope of his statements to Ece Ceyhun from Dünya Newspaper; While giving information about the 2028 road map of Turkish tourism, he also drew attention to the disadvantages caused by the geopolitics that Turkey is in in the current world conjuncture.
Ersoy said, “There is always a crisis due to the geopolitical environment we are in. “If you look at the war on three of our sides,” he said, pointing out that despite this geopolitics, there was a steady increase in tourism figures and Turkey rose to 4th place in the rankings.
Moreover, Minister Ersoy underlined that this graph was created by leaving behind the competitors showing stable growth and development in tourism and said, “Sometimes our foreign counterparts also tell us about it. And I said, ‘Who are your neighbors?’ I say. Our job is much more difficult. We have a very rich potential. The geopolitical environment we are in makes our job very difficult. Therefore, we need to ‘immunize’ the sector. There was a crisis in the past too. There is today too. “It will happen in the future too,” he said.
Stating that they are working for market and product diversity, Minister of Culture and Tourism Ersoy said, “Everywhere THY flies is a target destination.” We used to do tourism with 4-5 countries. “We now have an airline that flies to 330 cities,” he said and added:
“You will act knowing that everything affects tourism. If there is a problem with a product in one market, you will support it with others. The numbers have now reached such a level that this is no longer a job that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism can do alone. District and metropolitan municipalities are very important here. They need to create tourism master plans. There is no tourism city without a tourism master plan. Tourism master plans should be prepared primarily by metropolitan municipalities and district municipalities. Your plans; It includes what you will highlight. You will identify attraction points and potential. You will do this at the academic level. You will do this with the participation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Then there are infrastructure and superstructure investments. This is entirely a matter for municipalities. We have now written to all municipalities. Create your tourism master plan urgently.”

Underlining the local government cooperation to increase the tourism revenues of 81 provinces, Minister Ersoy said, “My suggestion is very clear. He will make the metropolitan master plan. Then he will fulfill the requirements of the tourism master plan. He will get results as much as he does. Otherwise, it doesn’t matter if you get to the top. You come down from the top at the same speed. Tourism is like this. The important thing is not that we rise, but that we rise by maintaining our position. “If you introduce something empty, tourists will change direction,” he said.
