
TAV Airports has left a quarter of a century behind since its establishment.
ISTANBUL (AA) – According to the statement made by the company, TAV Airports welcomed its first passengers by opening the new international terminal of Atatürk Airport on January 10, 2000, and served 1.5 billion passengers in a quarter century.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the company, at the TAV Airports management office, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors Ali Kurtdarcan, Executive Director Franck Mereyde, Chairman of the Executive Board Serkan Kaptan and Sani Şener, Kemal Ünlü, Şeref Eren, Süha Güçsav, who were among the managers of TAV Airports during the establishment period, A ceremony was held with the participation of Levent Güler, Murat Altıkardeşler, Kerem Aran and Aylin Selen.
TAV Airports Chief Executive Officer Serkan Kaptan, whose comments at the ceremony were included in the statement, stated that TAV Airports has turned into a global brand in its journey that started in a very different world compared to today.
Noting that TAV Airports, which was born with the vision of its founders Tepe and Akfen, went public in 2007 and grew by creating a portfolio of 10 airports in its first 10 years, Kaptan said, “It has been a part of the world’s largest airport management platform with our main shareholder Groupe ADP since 2012.” “We continue on our way.” he said.

Stating that they operate 15 airports in 8 countries, Kaptan stated that their global footprint has reached more than 100 airports in more than 30 countries with their service companies ATÜ Duty-Free, BTA, Havaş, TAV Operation Services, TAV Technologies and TAV Security.
Stating that they served 9 million passengers in their first year, Kaptan said, “We served 107 million passengers in 2024. “With our 44 thousand employees through subsidiaries and our market value reaching up to 3.2 billion dollars last year, we have taken our place among the world’s leading airport operators from Turkey.” made his assessment.
Stating that they have implemented the largest investment program in their history, reaching 2.5 billion euros in the last three years, Kaptan said:
“We have secured the second 25 years of TAV Airports and created a strong foundation to continue our growth on a global scale. Under this program, we opened the new terminal in Almaty in 2024. We will complete our investments in Antalya and Ankara in the first half of this year. In the next 3-4 years, we will make new investments of 150 to 300 million euros in Almaty. “In addition to the ongoing tenders in Montenegro and Kuwait, we will continue to evaluate new opportunities all over the world.”
Commemorating his managers and colleagues who made significant contributions to TAV Airports, Kaptan stated that many people trained at TAV have successfully worked in different points of the sector and that they are proud of this.

2000 – TAV Airports, established with the Istanbul Ataturk Airport BOT tender, completed the new terminal and started operations and welcomed its first passengers.
2005 – TAV Technologies was established.
2006 – Undertook the construction and operation of Ankara Esenboğa domestic and international terminals. Izmir Adnan Menderes was added to the portfolio. Bought 60% shares of HAVAŞ. TAV Security was established.
2007 – A new terminal and Batumi airport were opened in Tbilisi.
2007 – Public offering took place. HAVAŞ was entirely owned by TAV Airports.
2008 – Monastir Airport was opened.
2009 – Alanya-Gazipaşa started operations. Operations started at Enfidha Airport. Havaş became a 50 percent partner in TGS.
2010 – Started operating Skopje and Ohrid airports in North Macedonia.
2011 – The construction of the new terminal in Skopje and the modernization of Ohrid Airport were completed. Undertook the operation of commercial areas in Riga, Latvia.
2012 – Groupe ADP acquired 38 percent of the shares of founding partners Tepe and Akfen. It started operating Saudi Arabia’s Medina Airport with its consortium partners.
2013 – Croatia’s Zagreb Airport was added to the portfolio.
2014 – Operations started at Milas Bodrum Airport domestic flights terminal. Izmir domestic terminal opened.
2015 – New terminal opened in Medina. Milas Bodrum Airport started operating its international terminal.
2017 – Akfen sold its remaining 8 percent shares to Groupe ADP. New terminal opened in Zagreb.
2018 – Became an equal partner with Fraport at Antalya Airport.
2019 – Ataturk Airport closed. Havaş, BTA and ATÜ Duty-Free started operations at Istanbul Airport.
2021 – Purchased Kazakhstan Almaty Airport and started operating it. In partnership with Fraport, it extended its operating period in Antalya to 2052.
2022 – Extended the operation period in Ankara Esenboğa to 2050.
2024 – Opened the new international terminal in Almaty.
