Accordingly, while the number of public libraries within the ministry increased to 1301, the library usage areas increased to 735 thousand square meters. The number of library members increased to 6.6 million and the number of books increased to 25.8 million. By the end of the year, a total of 38 million visitors came to public libraries.
With the Ministry’s “Literary Works Support Program”, support was provided for the publication of a total of 545 first works. The number of books compiled by the Ministry throughout the year exceeded 105.
– State Theaters
For the first time in the 75-year history of the General Directorate of State Theatres, the number of spectators reached 2 million 149 thousand 361 with an increase of 66 percent in the 2023-2024 theater season, while 224 plays, 737 tours and 59 stages met with art lovers. Within the scope of the revived “Great Anatolian Tour”, plays were staged for 41 thousand 848 people in 55 provinces and 80 districts with the “Truck Theatre”.
While artist and technical support was provided to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) State Theaters this year, 126 thousand 163 audiences were reached with 424 performances in 9 theater festivals, and 63 thousand 518 audiences were reached with 60 plays and 175 performances in the Kültür Yolu Festivals.
– State Opera and Ballet
According to the 2024 activity data of the General Directorate of State Opera and Ballet affiliated with the Ministry, Turkey Culture Road reached 134 thousand 844 spectators in 148 events in national and international festivals, and 613 thousand 276 spectators in 1009 performances in the art season.
While the Anatolian Opera and Ballet Festival held in 6 provinces hosted 15 events and 15 thousand 358 viewers, talent screening of 116 children was carried out in Şırnak, Erzincan, Kırklareli, Ardahan, Hatay and Denizli with the “Talent is Everywhere” project.
– 381 million lira support was given to the cinema industry
During the year, 256 million lira support was provided to 56 projects in the cinema sector, while 28 million lira was contributed to 108 movie theaters within the scope of “Domestic Film Screening Support”. A total of 381 million liras of support was given to the cinema industry.
In terms of international promotion, Türkiye has made a name for itself in the cinema and TV series industry on many platforms, from prestigious festivals such as Cannes and Berlin to MIPCOM and Dubai fairs.
Turkish films supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism competed in important festivals and were deemed worthy of awards in 2024.
Within the scope of the Ministry’s “Walling Cinema for Children” project, more than 400 thousand children were introduced to cinema in 22 provinces and 150 districts. With the project “No Child Left Without Going to the Cinema”, 100 thousand children were given the cinema experience for the first time.

According to the statement, there was a 202 percent increase in the number of registered books compared to 2002, due to the growth in the publishing sector and the efforts to combat pirated books. The number of stamped books, which was 135 million in 2002, exceeded 408 million in 2024.
The revenues of professional associations representing copyright owners increased 11 times in the last 10 years and reached 1 billion 165 million lira in 2023.
This year, 4 thousand 293 works and productions were registered. The most registered areas are as follows; music albums (1350), computer programs (1231), scientific and literary works (676) and motion pictures (522).
