KIRKLARELİ (AA) – The decision hearing of the case was held in Kırklareli 2nd High Criminal Courtroom.
At the hearing, the defendant Bülent B., who was on trial for “causing death and injury through conscious negligence”, was present. Unarrested defendants Büşra G, Cenan A. and Sevcan U attended the hearing via the Audio and Video Information System.
Complainants Safiye Yaşa, Merve Sude Yaşa, Kadir Yaşa, Mehmet Han Yaşa, Hüseyin Duman, Emine Solmaz and Çiçek Dinç and the party lawyers were also present in the hall.
The hearing began with the taking of defense statements regarding the opinion on the merits given in the previous hearing.
Bülent B, who cried during his defense, did not accept the accusations.
Bülent B, who claimed that they received opinions from DSI, Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks before establishing the business, claimed that he established the facility upon the opinions of the institutions.
Stating that he spends approximately 120 days of the year at the facility with his children, Bülent B continued as follows:
“Would a person make an investment that would mean his own life or the lives of his children? Will it involve an investment that will later be wasted? My investment went to waste there. We could not foresee such a disaster. If we had seen it, would we have invested? Water came about 900 meters long and 9 meters high.
The bungalows in the middle of the valley were dragged 700 meters,disappeared. Loss of life has already occurred in these bungalows. The structures along the stream were just dragged away. The situation that created the 10 thousand year flow error is the bursting of the dam. Whatever happened there happened within 2 minutes. “When the water suddenly came along with the logs, 200-year-old trees were destroyed and electricity poles were destroyed.”

Complainant Safiye Yaşa, the mother of Mihriban Bagislar, one of those who lost their lives in the flood, said, “My children, my lives, my lungs were lost there. I’m done, I’m living a meaningless life. We want those responsible to receive the heaviest punishment. “We want real justice to be served.” he said.
Yaşa stated that the defendant Bülent B was a “murderer” on the grounds that he caused the death of 6 people, including his children, and said:
“His father, Bahri, shot his own brother in the heart years ago and fled abroad. Years later, he returned to Turkey and lived illegally. These are murderers, father and son, and their children will become murderers in the future. Anyway, their actions have no consequences in the face of justice. The crime they committed remained unrequited and free of charge. The murderer father went unpunished, Bülent will also remain unpunished, and his sons will take them as an example. “I leave it to God.”
While Bahri B., the father of the defendant Bülent B., who was in the courtroom as a spectator, reacted to the complainant Yaşa, the president of the court, Hüseyin Gedik, warned the parties not to disrupt the order of the hearing.
Emine Solmaz, the mother of Ümit Solmaz, who lost his life in the flood, also demanded that everyone who caused the death of her son be punished.
Other defendants, complainants and lawyers also made their defense.
Meanwhile, Bahri B’s sister Nasibe A., who was following the hearing, filed a criminal complaint to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, claiming that she was threatened with death by her brother in the courthouse corridor.

Cenan A. and Büşra G, other defendants, were sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison each, and it was decided that the judicial control provisions against them would continue and that these people would be banned from tourism activities for 2 years. It was decided to acquit the defendant Sevcan U.
