CHP Chairman Özgür Özel said, “We have to raise a generation that prioritizes science, discussion, research, and asking questions, that is not afraid or frightening, that is not scared or frightening, that does not intimidate children at a young age, that encourages them instead of frightening them, that is scientific, progressive, and contemporary starting from preschool and primary school, that can ask questions and is satisfied, convinced, and agreed with the answers they receive to their questions, and that feels comfortable.”
BALIKESİR (AA) – Özel criticized the policies implemented in the field of economy in Turkey in his speech at the opening of the 34th Burhaniye-Ören Tourism, Culture and Art Festival organized by the municipality in Ören Square in the Burhaniye district of Balıkesir.
Özel, who stated that CHP municipalities cannot eliminate all the problems but will do their part, said, “We took over a wreck in Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality both financially and in terms of capacity to do business, we took over one of the most indebted municipalities in Turkey. Let alone the principal, it is not even possible to pay the interests, but Balıkesir is waiting for service.”
Özel, who argued that the curriculum of the national education system was not applicable, continued his words as follows:
“Germany adopted a national education policy that everyone agreed on, everyone supported, and if a mistake was made, the entire country would oppose it years ago, and it is implementing it exactly as it is. I believe that the way for this country’s national education to be in the best possible way for everyone’s children is to build a national education policy in the direction shown by the founding cadres of this country. We have to raise a generation that prioritizes science, discussion, research, and asking questions, that is not afraid or frightening, that is not afraid or frightening, that does not intimidate children at a young age, that encourages them instead of frightening them, that is scientific, progressive, contemporary, that can ask questions starting from preschool and primary school, that is satisfied, convinced, and agreed with the answers they receive to the questions they ask, and that feels comfortable. An education system must be established without too much delay so that the guidance on who will be a technician or an engineer, who will be an artist or a healthcare professional can be done at the right time, right at the beginning of high school.”
– “Muğla Metropolitan Municipality is organizing a Suavi concert”
Özgür Özel stated that 30 festivals were cancelled in Turkey in the last 2 years due to various reasons.
Özel, reminding that the concert of artist Suavi was also cancelled, made the following statements:
“Recently, unfortunately, one of our municipalities cancelled the Suavi concert as a result of some strange reactions, actions and aggressions by the wings of a political party. Here, in your presence, I am sharing with you a letter we sent to all our municipalities: ‘If a concert has been planned and you are thinking of cancelling it for any reason, you will first notify the Republican People’s Party, we will know about it.’ I got up and went to Suavi’s house, apologized to him on behalf of all of us, and said that nothing like this would happen again. Instead of that small concert that was cancelled, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality is organizing a Suavi concert on September 1st, World Peace Day.We will all be there together. We will never, ever allow any artist in this country to be targeted, demonized or have their art obstructed because of their worldview. Everyone will know their place and boundaries. The Republican People’s Party exists, we will never surrender to such despotism.”
“We will experience a period in which Turkey will stand on its feet”
Özel recalled the results of the Republican People’s Party in the March 31 local elections.
Özel, who noted that until the first general elections, CHP mayors will know the value of the keys in their pockets and that these are the key to bringing Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s party to power, concluded his words as follows:
“I believe and trust in all of you, we will experience a period where there will be no more prohibitions, no more poverty, such great income inequalities will be completely eliminated, and Turkey will once again get back on its feet. 100 years ago, the founding cadres of this party first convinced this country to liberate itself, then to establish itself, and if this country without a pin has come to this day, it is because of the decisive, brave, hardworking and honest administrators of those days. The task is still ours after 100 years, we will be in power again after 100 years, we will once again get this country back on its feet. I believe and trust in you. We are a country where bad days are left behind, much better days are experienced together, and where the eyes of the youth are not fading, they are shining again, and the whole world is dreaming about it. Contrary to those who say there is a ‘survival problem’, we see the fact that 3 out of 4 young people in this country dream of a future in other countries of the world as a survival problem and we will work to eliminate this, to make the most beautiful country in the world a country that both our youth and the youth of the whole world dream of and to achieve the economic power, freedoms and social life that we deserve together sooner or later.”
The festival, which will feature music, dance, theatre and various performance arts at different points in Burhaniye, and will feature concerts, exhibitions, workshops and street artist activities, will end on September 1.
